GROUP IDENTITY

ROLE

The Ember Guard operates across all Hellrealms as a unified force of enforcement, regulation, and stability. They oversee movement between realms, monitor trade, respond to imbalance, and maintain order within settlements, roads, and border spaces.

STRUCTURE

The Guard functions as a single force across the realms. Within it exists the Gaushan, a specialized operational layer known internally but not distinguished publicly. On assignment, Gaushan may conceal their faces.

APPEARANCE

The Guard wears dark leather built for movement rather than armor. Bracers, belts, and weapons are standard. Their silhouette remains grounded, practical, and consistent across realms.

ASH MARKING

Pit ash is worn on exposed skin like war paint. It is not ceremonial in constant use, but serves as a symbol of status and shared experience tied to Zoah.

OPERATIONS

TRAINING

Training occurs in Zoah near the thresholds of the Pit. Recruits are tested for combat ability, composure, restraint, and stability in environments where Essence imbalance is present.

RECRUITMENT

Candidates are observed across the Hellrealms. Particular attention is given to those with unique Dark Gifts and the ability to remain steady under pressure. Some are recruited, others are watched for the Order.

WEAPONS

Elite Guard weapons are forged from Kilkar, a pit-forged metal resistant to corruption and effective against Variants, the Dimmed, and other imbalanced beings.

FORGING

Kilkar is forged only in Zoah by sanctioned Forgemasters under controlled exposure to Pit Fire. The process is restricted and unstable if mishandled.

INTERNAL CULTURE

BONDS

Guard members form strong internal bonds through shared training and service. Loyalty is quiet but deeply rooted, often resembling family.

STABILIZATION

Unstable members are removed from duty and returned to Zoah. Some are cleared and return, others are released, and some remain under observation.

PATH TO THE ORDER

Members may request to train for the Order of the Severed Flame. Acceptance is selective and tied to higher-risk containment work near the Pit.
