World Terms & Definitions

A

Aether

The shadowed space between worlds accessed through the Divine Gift of Eclipsion.

The Aether is not a realm of governance, nor a domain inhabited by beings. It exists as a dimensional threshold, neither fully within the physical world nor fully within the Spirit Realm.

For those gifted with Eclipsion, the Aether becomes a personal and exclusive expanse. Each wielder’s Aether is bound to them alone and cannot be entered or accessed by another. Only what has first been Sent into the Aether by its bearer may later be Called forth.

The Aether is a place of suspension, not permanence. It is used for concealment, containment, and retrieval, never as a place of dwelling.

Alps

Ancient cloaked beings bound to Alithea’s will.

They are half-sized figures cloaked in deep red linen, with misshapen goblin-like faces and a presence that feels ancient, immense, and oppressive.

Only four are known to exist.

Anointed One

A prophesied figure tied to ancient unrest, long feared and long awaited in equal measure.

Much of what is written about the Anointed One remains disputed across Heaven, Earth, and the Hellrealms.

Anchors

Humans who awaken to ancient power through direct contact with sacred artifacts tied to primordial forces.

Each Anchor becomes a living conduit of ancient power. Their awakening unfolds over several days as the body adapts to what it now carries.

Angelic

A term used for that which belongs to angels, their nature, design, bloodlines, or divine inheritance.

Angelic Armor

Armor forged within Heaven and formed to the body of the angel it protects.

It moves as second skin, layered and enchanted to flex with muscle rather than hinder it.

Angelic Powers

Abilities inherent to Angelkind, increasing in strength and refinement with age, discipline, and alignment with Light.

Recognized angelic powers include access to the Spirit Realm, Flashing, Ghosting, Discernment, Influence, Paralyum, and Icelight.

A Celestial honorific used to address a female angel with respect, similar to “Lady.”

Angelkind

The collective term for those who reside within Heaven and the Heavenlies.

angelos

A Celestial honorific used to address a male angel with respect, similar to “Sir.”

Ascendant Offering

A ceremonial observance held following the death of a powerful celestial being.

It marks the release of the soul from its fallen form and affirms its entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Ashen

Corrupted Fallen angels who pledged themselves to Alithea after their descent and burned away their Light until only shadow remained.

They are believed extinct after their destruction in the angel village attack.

Authority, The

The unified governing structure of the heavenly realm.

It is composed of the Choir, the Powers, and the Rulers.

B

Beastsight

A Dark Gift allowing heightened predatory perception and awareness through beast-affinity.

Beastsight sharpens the senses beyond natural demonic capacity and may extend to influence over lesser beasts.

Binding Vow

A vow formed through blood and will, witnessed by the Maker and sealed by the realm.

Breaking it results in Essence fracture, instability, and possible progression toward Dimming.

Bloodlines

Inherited spiritual lineage carrying traces of ancient celestial or supernatural power.

Bloodlines, Angelic

Specific celestial bloodlines preserving inherited ancient Gifts or lineage-bound manifestations.

Celestial Steel

Sanctified metal forged within Heaven and used in angelic weaponry.

Two known forms exist: Luminite and Celestium.

Celestium

A refined celestial steel designed to channel and amplify angelic energy.

Choir, The

Heaven’s standing military force operating across realms.

Choir Council, The

The highest governing military body within the Choir.

Covenant Vow

A sacred angelic oath that joins Essence.

Once sealed through return, it becomes eternal and unbreakable.

Creator

The title used by Angelkind to refer to God.

Curse

The spiritual corruption placed upon Fallen angels after the Rebellion.

D

Dark Gifts

Rare abilities possessed by select members of Demonkind beyond innate demonic power.

Known Dark Gifts include Hellfire, Beastsight, Illusion Weaving, Projection, Shade, and Temptation.

Death Angels

A prophetic title preserved in the Scrolls of the Omai.

Demonic Powers

Abilities inherent to Demonkind, increasing in strength with age, discipline, and dominance.

Demonkind

The collective term for those who reside within the Hellrealms.

Dimmed

Imbalanced beings formed when Essence destabilizes beyond recovery.

Dimmed are not a single species, but a state of existence.

Discernment

An innate angelic perception that senses emotional, physical, and spiritual states.

Divine Gifts

Abilities bestowed upon select angels beyond natural celestial design.

Dominion

An angelic Rank entrusted with governance and oversight.

Doshkin

The universal language spoken by demons.

E

Echelon, The

The prophesied warriors of the Last Days.

The Echelon will form from the Renatas, with redeemed beings who choose to stand against darkness joining together as one final force.

Eclipsion

The Divine Gift of Calling and Sending through the Aether.

Eclipsion grants access to a private shadowed threshold between worlds through which an angel may store, conceal, call forth, or briefly remove objects, beings, or threats according to the limits of the Gift.

Eidryn

An ancient term meaning “the becoming” or “new-made spirit.”

It describes a being formed through the merging of two distinct essences, resulting in a state that does not follow natural law.

The term appears in older celestial records and is rarely used in modern classification.

Elders

Senior celestial beings distinguished by age, endurance, wisdom, and spiritual refinement.

Elders are recognized rather than appointed. The title reflects maturation of Light rather than Rank alone.

Ember Guard

A structured military force operating across all Hellrealms.

They serve as the primary defense, enforcement, and stabilization body within demonic territories, responding to threats, maintaining order, and managing imbalanced entities.

Essence

The spiritual imprint carried by all living beings.

Essence reflects origin, nature, alignment, and internal truth. It cannot be fabricated, only obscured or corrupted.

F

Fallen

Angels who have fallen from Heaven.

In their fall, they lose their wings and become marked by the Curse. From the Fallen emerged divergent paths including Watchers, Shadows, and Shifters.

Flashing

The angelic expression of Spirit Walking.

Flashing allows angels to move swiftly through the Spirit Realm by aligning intention to Essence. Severe injury or emotional instability can disrupt it.

G

Gathering

An annual formal function hosted under the guise of a business event.

Though outwardly social and professional, it quietly unites covert allies for strategy, alliance, and observation.

Gateways

Ancient permanent structures embedded in each realm that form a shared inter-realm travel network.

Travel between realms occurs by portaling through Gateways. Unlike Rifts, Gateways do not tear or strain the fabric of the realms.

Each realm contains two Gateways, typically located outside major cities and often guarded.

Ghosting

The act of withdrawing from physical visibility while remaining present within the Spirit Realm.

To human perception, the angel seems to dematerialize. In truth, the being remains present, unseen, and fully aware.

Guardians

Angels appointed to watch over the young, whether angel or human.

Within Heaven, Guardians oversee the growth and early formation of Novus. For humans, they act with restraint, protecting without violating free will.

H

Healers

A sacred Trait among celestial beings who channel restorative Light.

Healers mend living flesh and stabilize Essence. They may restore wounded bodies, purge poison, strengthen failing vitality, and reverse disease, but healing cannot restore the dead.

Heathens

Enslaved demons conditioned and bound as trackers.

A Heathen is not a race but a state of enforced bondage created through the breaking of will and blood contract.

Heaven

The celestial realm established by the Maker as the seat of divine order and Light.

It encompasses the full expanse of the Heavenlies, including the Kingdom of Heaven and the ordered structures in which angels dwell and govern.

Heavenlies, The

The collective expanse of all realms within Heaven.

The term is often used in formal or prophetic speech to refer to the fullness of Heaven’s authority and reach.

Hellfire

A Dark Gift allowing the conjuring and wielding of destructive infernal flame tied to the wielder’s Essence.

Hellfire burns beyond physical matter and may consume energy, magic, or form depending on the strength of the wielder.

It most commonly appears in bloodlines descended from Asmodeus.

Hellfire Manifestations

Documented core variations within the black flame of Hellfire.

Known core states include Violet, Crimson, and Deep Blue, each reflecting internal alignment, emotional condition, or spiritual posture.

Hellrealms

The seven demonic realms that exist beyond the mortal world.

Each realm possesses its own geography, rulers, cultures, and magical ecosystems, yet all remain connected through the shared network of Gateways.

Hosts

A sacred designation among angelic females entrusted with the continuation of the celestial race.

Through divine rite rather than physical union, a Host carries life conceived by sanctified decree.

I

Icelight

A celestial energy distinct from an angel’s inner Light.

It manifests as a brief cerulean pulse of cold brilliance and governs wing manifestation, weapon formation, and angelic shifting.

Illusion Weaving

A Dark Gift allowing the manipulation of perception through fabricated sensory reality.

Illusion Weaving can alter sight, sound, and sensation, creating false environments or disguising truth beneath constructed perception.

In stronger users, the distinction between illusion and reality may become difficult to discern.

Influence

The Divine Gift of suggestion within the human mind.

Influence does not override free will. Instead, it gently guides perception so humans interpret what they have witnessed in ways that align with logic or reason.

Iraya

One of the Seven Hellrealms.

A realm associated with illusion, beauty, sacred glades, reflective waters, and enchantment.

Invocation

A demonic power involving the calling of entities or forces through ritual or authority.

It is a rare and largely declining discipline within modern Hellrealm society.

J

Joy Bringers

A celestial Trait that carries and amplifies divine joy.

Joy Bringers strengthen hope, morale, and spiritual resilience in others, helping restore emotional balance where despair has taken root.

K

Kazhra

A demon bourbon distilled from the resin of Kazhran flowers.

The name is a Doshkin term meaning “Desired Flame.”

Kazhran

Lotus-like blossoms from which amber resin is harvested.

Their resin is used in the distillation of Kazhra.

Keryth Leather

An enchanted angelic leather used in the crafting of Angelic Armor.

It is shaped through divine refinement and battle-tempered endurance, molding silently to the angel who wears it.

Kingdom of Heaven

A sacred realm within Heaven accessible only to the soul.

The Kingdom of Heaven is the Promised Land, untouched by rebellion or war, where souls dwell in peace beyond mortal suffering.

L

Lantern of Dhuma

A celestial body unique to Dhuma.

It governs the realm’s shifting natural light cycle and does not phase like a traditional moon.

Last Days

A prophetic era in which ancient forces rise again.

The Last Days are marked by the awakening of the Anointed One, the formation of the Echelon, and the final convergence of Light and darkness.

Light

The spirit and soul of an angel.

Light binds angels to the Creator and sustains their being. It is the source of their innate abilities, identity, and power.

Loka

One of the Seven Hellrealms.

A realm defined by tropical canopy ecosystems, freshwater island systems, ancient ruins, and pleasure-born trade culture.

Luminite

A radiant celestial steel that emits its own glow.

When awakened in battle, Luminite burns with divine fire capable of wounding both body and Essence.

M

Maker

The title used by Demonkind to refer to God.

Among demons, the term reflects formation and power without necessarily implying reverence. Both Maker and Creator refer to the same being.

Mind Manipulation

An innate demonic power allowing direct influence over the mind.

It may alter memory, distort perception, provoke emotion, suppress thought, or fabricate internal experience. Mastery increases with age, control, and hierarchy.

N

Naraka

One of the Seven Hellrealms.

A realm known for rigid social order, disciplined hierarchy, and refined architectural tradition.

Nephilim

The offspring of a forbidden union between Fallen angels and human women.

When a Nephilim died, the body perished but the spirit did not ascend or descend. Instead, it remained bound to the earth and became the source of malevolent earthly entities.

Novus

An angel newly brought into life.

A Novus is an angelic child under the care of appointed Guardians until reaching maturity and beginning formal training according to Rank and Trait.

O

Omai

An ancient prophetic order associated with preserved visions, scrolls, and sacred interpretation.

The Omai maintain Temple records and preserved prophetic archives.

Ophanim

A covert angelic network dedicated to assisting Fallen and opposing destructive celestial politics.

Though hidden, the Ophanim move strategically against corruption and rigid injustice within Heaven’s wider order.

Order of the Severed Flame

An ancient order stationed in Zoah responsible for guarding the Pit.

They maintain containment, monitor instability, and enforce restrictions near the deepest rupture of the realm.

P

Paralyum

A voluntary state of spiritual suppression unique to angels.

Paralyum silences emotional response without removing awareness or clarity of thought.

Peace Givers

A celestial Trait associated with the stilling of chaos and unrest.

Peace Givers calm conflict, create sacred space, and help prevent violence from taking root.

Pit

A prison within Zoah reserved for the truest evil.

The Pit is a massive rupture descending into a lower Hell layer, used to contain beings whose corruption is beyond restraint.

Possession

A demonic power allowing the inhabiting and control of another being.

It is considered a declining discipline among Demonkind and is not widely practiced in modern Hellrealm society.

Powers, The

An elite heavenly order entrusted with the defense of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Their role is the guarding of Heaven’s holiest thresholds and the preservation of its sanctity.

Projection

A Dark Gift allowing the extension of consciousness, presence, or manifested form beyond the physical body.

Projection permits remote observation, communication, or spiritual manifestation while the user’s true body remains elsewhere.

The physical form remains vulnerable while Projection is active.

Promised Land

Another name for the Kingdom of Heaven.

It is the realm of peace, eternal rest, and fulfilled promise where souls dwell beyond suffering.

Rank

A formal measure of authority, proximity to power, and structural placement within a celestial hierarchy.

Rank determines governance, responsibility, and command. It does not replace Trait.

Rebellion, The

The ancient celestial uprising that led to the Fall of many angels and the corruption of Light.

Its consequences shaped Heaven, the Hellrealms, and all prophecy that followed.

Reborn

A term used for one who has passed through profound spiritual change.

Its full meaning varies depending on who speaks of it.

Renatas

A prophetic designation meaning “reborn.”

The term appears in ancient visions concerning the Last Days, though its full meaning remains uncertain.

Rifts

Temporary tears in reality used for inter-realm travel.

Rifts appear as reality tearing open and seal after passage. They strain the fabric of the realms and are therefore used only rarely.

Rulers, The

One of the three primary factions within the heavenly Authority.

The Rulers oversee protection, stewardship, and influence over the affairs of humankind.

Ruling Council, The

The governing body of the Rulers.

It oversees humanity’s protection mandates and sanctioned intervention.

Sacred Daughters

A covert order of women operating across the Seven Hellrealms.

They serve as investigators, informants, and guardians of internal stability.

Saints

Humans who know the Creator and live in alignment with His will, also called Children of Light.

They are not defined by perfection, but by faith and grace.

Scrolls of the Omai

A collected body of prophetic writings preserved within the Temple.

The Scrolls contain accounts of rebellion, ancient wars, and the coming of the Last Days.

Serai

An angelic weapon borne exclusively by the Seraphim.

Forged of sanctified celestial steel and divine fire, a serai sears beyond flesh and burns Essence itself.

Seraphim

A high angelic Rank distinguished by proximity to the presence of the Creator.

Known as the Burning Ones, the Seraphim are entrusted with sacred judgment, divine will, and the highest expressions of heavenly command.

Shade

Also called Fade, a Dark Gift allowing partial withdrawal into shadow and diminished physical presence.

Shade enables concealment through shadow, obscured visibility, and in advanced forms, near-intangible movement between spaces.

It is concealment and phasing rather than true Spirit Walking.

Shadow

A Fallen who has fully embraced the Curse and allowed corruption to define and direct their nature.

Shadows surrender to distortion rather than resisting it.

Shadow-light

A rare and unsettling form of power in which opposing forces appear to coexist.

Its true nature is poorly understood and often feared.

Shifters

A rare Divine Gift tied to specific bloodlines descended from the Fallen.

Shifters trace their lineage to angels who lost their wings during the Rebellion. The Curse divided the Gift into Angelic Shifters and Earthbound Shifters.

Shifters, Angelic

Shifters descended from preserved angelic bloodlines who retain the Divine Gift of fluid transformation.

Their shifting is powered by Icelight, preserves clothing, and reflects disciplined, intentional transformation.

Shifters, Earthbound

Shifters whose transformation is driven by heat and raw magical force rather than Icelight.

They are confined to a single animal form, do not preserve clothing in shift, and consume stored magic when transforming.

Sight

The Divine Gift of foresight.

Sight allows perception beyond present time, often through symbolic visions requiring interpretation.

Sors

The oldest known collection of prophetic writings, compiled by Angelic Seers into a single sacred tome.

The Sors contains prophecies concerning the Last Days, the Anointed One, the Renatas, the Echelon, and the final convergence of Light and darkness.

It vanished during the Rebellion and has not been recovered.

Spirit Realm

The unseen dimension interwoven with the physical world.

It is the plane in which angels, demons, and disembodied beings move, conceal themselves, battle, and Spirit Walk beyond mortal sight.

Spirit Walking

The act of moving through the Spirit Realm to reach another location.

Among angels this is called Flashing. Among Demonkind it is called Traveling. Precision depends on clarity of will and Essence alignment.

Survival Guide

A compiled archive of knowledge documenting realms, creatures, artifacts, and known systems of power.

It is structured into five sections: Glossary, Realms, Living Files, Artifact Index, and Creatures.

Sutra

One of the Seven Hellrealms.

A realm associated with abundance, balance, renewal, and continuous living growth.

T

Temptation

A Dark Gift allowing influence over desire, attraction, and emotional vulnerability.

Temptation heightens longing, trust, obsession, or surrender in those affected.

The Gift may manifest subtly or with overwhelming force depending on proximity, control, and strength of the wielder.

Tehom

One of the Seven Hellrealms.

A realm known for shadowed forests, fertile valleys, old sacred places, and conscious land.

Telekinesis

The Divine Gift of moving objects without physical contact.

Through focused will, the wielder may shift, lift, or direct matter at a distance. Precision depends upon discipline and strength of Light.

Throne

An angelic Rank serving as the primary warriors of Heaven’s army.

Thrones stand at the front lines of celestial conflict and are often the first deployed into battle.

Trait

A sacred designation woven into a celestial being at creation, defining the primary expression of its power and function.

Trait is distinct from Rank. Rank defines structure and authority, while Trait defines the natural current of power a being channels.

Traveling

The demonic expression of Spirit Walking.

Though mechanically similar to Flashing, Traveling relies more heavily on force of will and raw power.

The Rite

A ceremonial observance tied to renewal, balance, and continuity of life.

The Rite is recognized across realms, though its meaning and execution may vary by culture.

The Underground

A covert shadow syndicate operating across the realms.

It functions through isolated contact chains, coded exchanges, and controlled movement directed by fixed Keepers. Members recognize one another through specific markers and phrases.

Failure, exposure, or betrayal results in disappearance.

U

Umbraxis

A Doshkin term describing mastery over shadow and the in-between.

Umbraxis is the ability to exist and move within liminal space, where shadow, presence, and absence overlap, without fully leaving the physical plane or entering a separate realm.

It is not Ghosting, Spirit Walking, a Rift, or Luka Shadow Walking. Umbraxis is a distinct state of existence that allows operation within the space between realities rather than transition through them.

Umbraxis does not bypass the Boundary and cannot be used to exit a realm. It functions within existing realm structure and does not tear or strain reality.

It is not classified as a Doshkin gift, but rather a term used to define a rare, high-form ability associated with mastery of the in-between.

Union

A formal covenant ceremony joining two creatures in marriage.

Union marks a public and sacred declaration of lifelong partnership under divine order.

V

Vacio

A mid-level demon class whose name derives from the demonic word for void.

Vacio are humanoid, cunning, and associated with theft, deception, and infiltration. They can alter outward physical presentation but do not conceal Essence.

Variants

A classification of Dimmed specific to Zoah.

Variants form when external essence from the Pit invades and reshapes a weakened host.

They retain physical structure but exhibit altered behavior based on the invading force.

Veil

A protective magical barrier used to conceal power, places, or presence.

Veils can mask what lies beyond them and are often used around sacred or restricted sites.

Veil-sickness

The physical and spiritual agony experienced when crossing or breaching powerful Veils.

Its severity depends on the strength of the barrier and the nature of the one attempting passage.

Virtues

Guardians of divine law and order.

They embody moral authority and the enforcement of sacred boundaries within Heaven’s greater structure.

Vitalis

A fundamental force that connects all living things.

Vitalis governs life, growth, and continuity across realms. It is not bound to any single realm or ruler.

Only the earliest beings in existence are known to have direct access to it.

Watchers

Fallen who walk among humanity and resist the Curse, preserving what remains of their Light.

An angel falls only once, yet casting out has occurred across ages. The Watchers await the Anointed One in hope of redemption.

Wicce

An ancient earth-born people predating mankind.

The word means “to bend.” Wicce are distinct from witches and capable of powerful magic rooted in an older order of the world.

Witches

Humans who trade their souls for power drawn from the Curse.

Their practices descend from remnants of Wicce knowledge, though true witchcraft is chosen rather than inherited.
