Joy-Bringers sound softer than they are. That’s probably because people hear the name and assume comfort, like that’s the whole of it.
It isn’t. What they do pushes back against something real—despair, collapse, the kind of darkness that settles in long before anything physical breaks. They don’t fight it with force. They outlast it. Shift it. Keep it from taking root completely.
From what I can tell, their presence doesn’t erase pain. It makes it possible to keep standing under it. And sometimes that matters more.
