THE WICCE
Before mankind, entities lived within the world— primordial beings born from the earth itself and entrusted with the care and balance of the natural world.
They understood the workings of creation intimately, holding knowledge of the sciences and natural forces woven into the world’s design.
But when mankind was cursed, the world and all that dwelled within it became cursed as well.
The earthborn entities were altered by that fracture. Their purpose bent from nature alone toward mankind, and in time they took on the female form and the name Wicce.
In the old tongue, Wicce means to bend.
Though their power remained tied to the wellbeing of the natural world, they turned portions of it toward their own desires and pleasures. Over time, stories of the Wicce spread among mankind and fractured into legend.
Tales of nymphs, sirens, sprites, and fairies are believed by many to trace their origin to encounters with Wicce throughout history.
True Wicce do not die in the manner of mortal beings. When their bodies fail, they enter a state of stasis before returning to the earth itself, from which they are eventually reborn.
