The Order of the Severed Flame is Zoah’s elite containment force, operating nearest the Pit where instability, rupture, and dangerous transport demand precision above spectacle. They are not ceremonial warriors, but specialists trained for controlled movement, endurance, and the handling of what cannot be safely left unguarded.
Drawn from the most capable ranks of the Ember Guard, these warriors are often those whose Dark Gifts can give the Order the upper hand when transporting the imprisoned, the imbalanced, or the Dimmed into the Pit for containment.

ROLE
The Order exists to secure the movement and containment of dangerous beings where ordinary force is not enough. Their work centers on restraint, escort, descent, and maintaining control near the Pit’s most unstable thresholds.
TRAINING
Members are trained for silent movement, controlled response, terrain endurance, coordinated transport, and disciplined use of force. Their preparation emphasizes precision under pressure rather than visible martial display.
DEPLOYMENT
The Order is most often deployed when movement into containment territory becomes necessary, particularly when the imprisoned, the imbalanced, or the Dimmed must be escorted under threat of escalation.
PHILOSOPHY

WEAPONS
Their weapons are functional, compact, and chosen for close control rather than spectacle. Blades, restraint tools, and specialized transport gear are favored over anything cumbersome or ceremonial.
ATTIRE
Their uniforms are stealth-based and movement-focused, built from layered dark fabrics and worn leather with minimal strapping. A red scarf is the Order’s most recognizable marker, worn at the face, neck, shoulder, or waist.
IDENTIFICATION
The Order carries the Severed Flame as its identifying mark: a downward-pointing flame divided through its center above an abyssal cleft. The symbol reflects severance, sacrifice, and controlled descent.
OPERATIONAL BEHAVIOR
The Order does not move like a public military force. Their presence is quiet, watchful, and exact. They arrive when a situation has already crossed into danger and remain until control has been restored.
