Tobias does not look like what Tehom expects from the son of its King.

Dark hair. Eyes that do not fully carry the silver of line. The difference is subtle, but in a realm like this, subtle things are noticed.

Three children bore the King’s Mark before him. There was no need for a fourth.

That did not stop people from speaking.

Not loudly. Not where it could be traced. But enough that the idea took hold—that he was somehow less than what he should have been.

They’re wrong.

Tobias is a true heir of Tehom. He simply takes after his mother more than his father, and in a bloodline so closely watched, that was enough for people to make meaning out of what was never missing.

His power expresses differently too.

Alongside the blooded Dark Gift of Hellfire, Tobias possesses Projection—the ability to separate his Spirit from his material body through deep meditation, allowing for perception, movement, and spiritual interaction independent of physical limitation within a realm.

His Spirit can be seen, but it cannot be harmed. It cannot interact physically, only spiritually, and it cannot be severed from his body.

The risk is not to the Spirit.

It is to what remains behind.

If Tobias does not maintain awareness while projecting, his physical body can be harmed.

He does it anyway. Not recklessly. Not carelessly. Everything about him suggests control before display, discipline before impulse.

He is loyal to his family, close with his siblings, and especially devoted to his mother. Much of what drives him seems rooted there—not in rebellion, but in the need to be exact, capable, and impossible to question for the sake of the name she carries and the realm she helps hold together.

He does not ask for recognition.

He sharpens until it becomes unnecessary.
