KHALA

Queen Regent of Tehom

KNOWN DATA

Status: Active

Affiliation: Tehom Royal House

Classification: Demon

Title: Queen Regent

KNOWN DEFENSE / AUTHORITY

Primary Authority Structure: Ember Guard

Specialized Enforcement: Gaushan

Personal Armament: Not formally logged

Status: Authority-based defense structure

As a ruling authority within the hellrealms, Khala does not rely on a single weapon, artifact, or visible show of force to maintain control. Her power is structural. The Ember Guard operate as the primary enforcement body across the realm, maintaining order, responding to instability, and carrying out the will of the ruling authority.

The Gaushan function at a higher level—less visible, more precise, and often tasked with directives that require discretion or direct intervention. While both answer to the throne, their movement is not constant display. Their presence is felt more often than it is seen.

Any personal weapon Khala may possess is not recorded in accessible archive material. Given the nature of her rule, it is unlikely that a singular weapon defines her authority. The realm itself, and what answers to her within it, serves that role more effectively.

RECORD SUMMARY

Khala is not what most would expect to find holding a hellrealm together. She is not blood-born to the throne, and she does not pretend to be. She is a farmer’s daughter from Tehom who stepped into rule when the realm needed stability more than legacy.

She entered Asmodeus’s life after Lillian’s death, when the children were still young. Tobias is her only biological son. That distinction matters less than it should. Every credible account confirms the same thing—she raised all four as her own, and they follow her because of it.

Khala wears the circlet, not the crown. In Tehom, that line is clear. The crown belongs to blood. The circlet exists because of the Absence—because someone had to hold the realm together when the King did not return. Khala never confused the two.

She leads with restraint, not force. That does not make her soft. It makes her dangerous in a different way. She understands what it costs to keep people alive, and she makes decisions accordingly. Tehom did not fracture under her rule. That is not a small thing.

She allowed her children to leave in search of their father. That choice reads as risk from the outside. It reads as trust from where she stands.

Khala is no longer ruling by the end of Book Two. The transition is tied to succession events still partially restricted in the archive. What is clear is this—her regency was never symbolic. She held the realm through the Absence and gave it something most hellrealms lost early: stability without cruelty.

I trust her judgment. That is not something I say lightly.
