MIREL ROOT
Mirel Root grows beneath Naraka’s visible structure, cultivated in shallow, water-fed beds hidden within the terrace systems. It is not a plant defined by its surface presence, but by the role it plays beneath it.
Its dense, knotted root is harvested in controlled cycles and refined into binding agents used throughout Naraka’s material systems. Where other flora define what the city looks like, Mirel Root helps determine what endures.
FIELD RECORD
Subterrace root crop cultivated in Naraka’s water-fed beds.
Naraka
Flora
- Thick, knotted root structure with smooth outer surface
- Dense interior with pale green to muted gold tones
- Minimal surface foliage with restrained leaf growth
- Grown in damp gravel beds with shallow flowing water
- Typically partially concealed beneath terrace layers
Mirel Root is cultivated in shaded, water-regulated beds where moisture, flow, and soil composition are carefully controlled to support dense root development.
Used as a binding agent in pigment and ink systems, a base component in medicinal preparations, and a stabilizing element in refined material processes.
Harvested in partial cycles, with sections removed selectively to preserve the root network and ensure continued growth within the cultivation bed.
Most often found in subterrace cultivation beds beneath Mirazel and in controlled growing zones near Akerin-adjacent water systems.
ARCHIVAL NOTE
Mirel Root is rarely seen in full, and that is by design. It exists in the parts of Naraka that are maintained rather than displayed, where systems are preserved instead of presented.
It does not shape how the city is perceived at a glance, but it supports nearly everything that lasts beyond it. In Naraka, what is hidden often carries as much importance as what is seen.
