The Great City
Lady Sayori, ruler of Naraka
Veydris
Naraka is a realm defined by structure, hierarchy, and ritualized living. Movement, speech, status, and presentation are governed by an unspoken but absolute order in which nothing is accidental and nothing exists outside of structure.
A vast terraced city-realm of refined stone architecture, layered districts, canals, bridges, enclosed courtyards, and cultivated gardens. Every structure is placed with intention, forming a controlled urban environment shaped by hierarchy rather than natural sprawl.
Narrow canals and controlled waterways move through the city, integrated into its terraces and districts. Water is guided, contained, and maintained as part of Naraka’s structured design rather than existing as wild or open bodies.
- Tiered city structure defined by rank and access
- Refined court culture rooted in ritual and restraint
- Bridges, gates, and district markers embedded into architecture
- Controlled flora integrated into terraces and palace grounds
- Movement and behavior shaped by hierarchy at all levels
- Velkarith — ancient palace seat overlooking the city
- Hanori Market — central trade and exchange district
- The Court of Nine — governing chamber within the palace
- Eden Gate — preserved gate chamber beneath the palace
- Kurai District — noble district marked by house influence
Naraka contains two ancient Portal Gates connected to the inter-realm network. As with all realms, they are located outside primary population centers in controlled, guarded locations and respond to the will of the traveler.
Flora in Naraka is cultivated, placed, and maintained with intention. Flowering trees, terrace gardens, and structured plantings are integrated into the city’s design, serving aesthetic, ceremonial, and environmental roles within controlled spaces.
Naraka’s fauna reflect the realm’s controlled nature—graceful, composed, and integrated into its environment. Creatures often hold symbolic or functional roles within the city’s structure. Dimmed entities exist outside this order and are handled through structured intervention rather than open conflict.
Naraka’s culture is built on hierarchy, restraint, and ritual. Social behavior follows strict protocols influenced by refined court traditions, where speech is measured, movement is intentional, and status governs interaction. Titles such as Lord and Lady are used consistently, reinforcing structure across all levels of society.
The Crane, symbol of precision, discipline, and elevated authority within structured order.
NARAKA
Naraka stands as the Great City—an expansive realm of structure, hierarchy, and deliberate design.
Layered across terraces of stone, water, and cultivated ground, the city rises in ordered districts where every path, bridge, and threshold is placed with intention. Movement through Naraka is guided not by chance, but by position. Where one walks, stands, and speaks is determined by rank, and the rhythm of the realm follows an unspoken but absolute system of order.
Life here is governed by ritual. Speech is measured, behavior is controlled, and presentation reflects discipline at every level. Nothing is excessive, nothing is unaccounted for, and nothing exists outside of structure.
From its elevated palace seat to its lower districts, Naraka does not rely on force to maintain control. It is upheld through expectation—through a culture so refined and so deeply embedded that deviation is rare and correction is quiet.
It is a realm where power is not displayed.
It is understood.
SAYORI ARASHIYA
Sayori rules Naraka through strategy, social control, and precise political instinct rather than open force. Ascending young after the loss of both her parents in the aftermath of the Absence, she learned quickly that Naraka does not remain stable through silence. Under her reign, court life, gathering, and alliance are not indulgences, but instruments of control that keep the realm’s rhythm intact.

THE KURAI
The Kurai is the governing body formed from the marked bloodlines of the Uvedien, representing the convergence of influence across the Hellrealms. Each member carries a distinct power tied to Essence, shaping balance through opposition, alliance, and controlled tension.

NYXTHAR
Nyxthar are Dimmed of Naraka, formed when discipline fractures and control gives way to instinct. Their forms remain composed, but something beneath the surface no longer follows order.
They hunt with quiet precision, drawn to imbalance and weakness. Their stillness holds too long—until movement comes without warning.
