NETHERA
Nethera is Iraya’s decomposition flora, spreading in quiet, low-growing networks beneath meadow edges, grove shade, and the softer ground near fallen organic matter. It is easily missed at first glance, appearing less like a conventional mushroom growth and more like a pale, lace-work structure woven directly into the surface of the land.
Its presence is subtle, but essential. Nethera breaks down fallen blooms, plant matter, and natural debris, quietly returning nutrients to the soil that sustains the rest of Iraya’s flora. Like much of the realm, it does not perform or call attention to itself. Its beauty lies in delicacy, restraint, and function.
FIELD RECORD
Native decomposition flora of Iraya.
Iraya
Flora
- Pale, low-growing fungal network in white, ivory, and faint silver tones
- Fine branching filaments forming lace-like natural patterns
- Growth appears woven into the ground rather than sitting above it
- Often partially concealed beneath Hareshin or scattered debris
- Quiet visual presence tied to shaded, undisturbed ground
Nethera spreads in thin, intricate networks across shaded soil, particularly where fallen flora, root matter, and natural debris gather undisturbed over time.
Nethera is not treated as a common domestic or trade flora. Its primary value lies in ecological function, serving as the quiet decomposition layer that sustains nutrient cycling across Iraya’s ground systems.
Not commonly harvested. Growth appears where conditions support decomposition and moisture balance, with presence determined more by ground stability and shade than by a strict seasonal pattern.
Most often found beneath Shaylen Aum groves, shaded meadow edges, undisturbed ground cover, and quieter areas where organic matter is allowed to break down naturally.
ARCHIVAL NOTE
Nethera is rarely noticed until it is already beneath you. It does not rise above the land or disrupt the visual language of the realm. Instead, it threads quietly through what has already ended, breaking down what no longer grows so that something else may.
In Iraya, even decay is refined. Nethera reflects that balance clearly—never grotesque, never excessive, only deliberate in purpose and nearly invisible unless the eye has learned to look closely.
