FIELD RECORD
Aquatic eel native to Dhuma.
Dhuma
Long-bodied basin eel adapted to dark, slow-moving waters and low-visibility aquatic conditions.
- Long, flexible eel-like body
- Smooth skin adapted to murky water
- Dark coloration suited to basin depths
- Subtle movement with minimal surface disturbance
- Commonly found in deeper or slower water zones
Most commonly found in the Sable Basin and other slow-moving or dark-water regions of Dhuma, especially in deeper channels where visibility is limited.
Selk move quietly through the water and tend to remain below the surface unless disturbed. They are not aggressive toward larger beings and are most often encountered during fishing or basin harvesting.
- Efficient movement through murky water
- Adaptation to low-light aquatic environments
- Minimal detectable surface disruption
- Strong survival in slow-moving basin systems
Active throughout the realm’s cycle, with steady movement in deeper waters regardless of light conditions.
Selk are harvested in Dhuma both as a food source and for the dense oil they produce. Selk Oil is used for waterproofing, preservation, and slow-burning fuel, making the species a practical part of the realm’s ecosystem and trade.

Selk are long-bodied basin eels native to Dhuma, most commonly found in the dark waters of the Sable Basin and other slow-moving depths throughout the realm. They move beneath the surface with smooth, nearly unseen motion, making them one of the more common but rarely observed water creatures of Dhuma.
Their bodies are built for low-visibility environments, allowing them to navigate murky water with ease. Selk are an important resource within the realm, harvested both as a food source and for the dense oil they produce.
This oil, commonly referred to as Selk Oil, is valued for its practical use. It is used to seal and preserve materials, protect against moisture and decay, and serve as a slow-burning fuel in low-light conditions. Its presence extends beyond sustenance, making Selk a foundational part of Dhuma’s daily function and trade.
