Skayrin are ground-hunting arachnids native to the lower terraces, stone corridors, and sheltered terrain of Zoah. Most often encountered along quiet paths and between fitted rock surfaces, they remain nearly invisible until movement reveals their position.
Unlike web-building species, Skayrin rely entirely on stillness, terrain integration, and rapid bursts of movement. Their presence is subtle but effective, maintaining control over smaller fauna populations and contributing to the balance of Zoah’s lower-level ecosystems.
FIELD RECORD
Ground-adapted arachnid species evolved for stability, camouflage, and hunting across stone-based terrain.
Zoah
Low-level ambush predator regulating insect and small fauna populations.
- Flattened, wide body profile
- Thick, angular, load-bearing legs
- Matte surface with subtle mineral-like segmentation
- Fine hair catching minimal light
- Forward-weighted eye arrangement
Lower terraces, stone pathways, sheltered ledges, and low-traffic corridors where terrain offers concealment.
Skayrin remain motionless for extended periods, blending into surrounding stone. When prey enters range, they move in rapid, controlled bursts rather than sustained pursuit.
- High-level terrain camouflage
- Rapid ambush movement from stationary position
- Stable traction across uneven stone surfaces
- Environmental blending through coloration and texture
Most active during low-light or low-traffic conditions when movement detection becomes more effective.
Skayrin are not considered dangerous to larger beings. Their presence is often only noticed after movement occurs, making them one of Zoah’s most easily overlooked predators.
