THORNBRUSH

Field Boundary Shrub
Thornbrush

Thornbrush grows along the outer edges of Tehom farmland in sparse but hardened formations, marking field lines and rough territorial boundaries where cultivated land begins to give way to harsher ground. Its branches are dry, slightly twisted, and set with small sharp thorns, giving it a natural defensive structure without the need for constructed fencing.

The plant’s coloration ranges from muted green to dry brown, shaped by exposure, volcanic grit, and less forgiving soil conditions. It is not a lush boundary growth, but a resilient one, suited to the edges of the realm where endurance matters more than softness.

FIELD RECORD

ORIGIN

Realm-native scrub growth common to Tehom’s harsher field edges and drier boundary terrain.

REALM

Tehom

CLASSIFICATION

Flora

IDENTIFIERS
  • Sparse but structured branching form with slight twisting growth
  • Small hardened thorns along dry weathered stems
  • Muted green to brown coloration shaped by harsh conditions
  • Natural tendency to form informal barriers along farmland edges
  • Dry, textural presence against volcanic soil and open ground
GROWTH HABIT

Thornbrush grows in tough branching clusters rather than soft spread, favoring drier outer boundaries, exposed terrain, and ground too harsh for more delicate flora to maintain consistent growth.

COMMON USES

Used as natural boundary growth and passive deterrent along field edges. In some areas, cut sections are repositioned to reinforce rough barriers or mark less-traveled land divisions.

HARVEST / SEASON

Present year-round in established growth zones, with seasonal variation affecting density rather than survival due to its hardy structure.

ENCOUNTER ZONES

Most commonly found along outer farmland edges, roadside margins, and transitional terrain beyond cultivated land in Ebonvale and surrounding regions.

ARCHIVAL NOTE

Thornbrush belongs to the defensive edge of Tehom rather than its cultivated center. It marks where care begins to thin, where land becomes less shaped by hand and more governed by the conditions of the realm itself. Its value is simple but essential.

It is not removed or replaced, but allowed to stand where it forms naturally. In doing so, Thornbrush reflects a deeper pattern within Tehom: that not all structure is built, and not all boundaries need to be enforced by design. Some are grown.
