RECORD SUMMARY

Michael does not look like most people’s idea of an archangel.

Which is ironic, considering he is quite literally that Michael. Yes, that Michael. The renowned archangel mentioned in biblical texts, commander of Heaven’s armies, defender of the faithful, the one responsible for more than a few legendary battles that theologians have been arguing about for centuries.

In person, he looks more like someone you would expect to see leaning against a motorcycle outside Brass and Bourbon at dusk than sitting within the Choir Council.

Dark jeans. Black boots. A worn leather jacket that looks like it has seen its share of late nights and bad weather. If you did not know who he was, you would probably assume he belonged to the kind of crowd that rides through town after midnight and leaves before sunrise.

The truth is not that different.

Michael is tall. Very tall. Around six foot five, built broad through the shoulders with the kind of strength that comes from centuries of war rather than time spent in a gym. His hair is cut close, almost military short, which makes his expression harder to read. Thick brows frame dark chocolate eyes.

The same eyes Seth inherited.

That similarity is not subtle. People who meet them often assume they are brothers.

Michael fights with two swords and leads the warriors with his knowledge and skill. Direct. Decisive. Efficient.

But the longer you know him, the more you realize there is something else beneath all of that control.

Michael lost Seth’s mother a long time ago. I know the story. Seth does too. What most people do not realize is how badly Michael handled it afterward.

There was no Covenant Vow between them.

Only a Union.

Seth discovered that later.

That truth created a distance between them that took a long time to close. For a while they barely spoke to each other at all.

Lately though, something has shifted. The tension between them has eased. They still circle each other like two stubborn males who refuse to say certain things out loud, but they are closer now than they have been in years.

Seth pretends not to notice the rest of it.

There is also .

I have seen the way Michael looks at her when he thinks no one is paying attention. It is subtle. Easy to miss if you do not know what you are looking for. of him.

Not the polite one he gives during Council meetings.

The real one.

Seth ignores it completely, which is either impressive restraint or selective blindness. I have not decided which.

Either way, watching Michael the more unexpected developments around here.

And considering the things we deal with on a daily basis, that is saying something.
