DHUMA
Dhuma is a realm of shadowed plains, silver-lit waters, and shifting low light. Light does not rise or fall as it does in other realms, but deepens and softens in quiet cycles, guided by the Lantern of Dhuma rather than any true sun.
Across the Gloamfields and through the darkened streets of Velmora, the realm moves in measured calm, shaped by balance rather than brightness. Everything in Dhuma feels hushed and watchful, as though the land itself responds to the emotional state of those who walk it, where balance is maintained not only by the realm, but by those who live within it.
When that balance fails, Dhuma does not produce a single form of collapse. It fractures. Multiple manifestations of imbalance can emerge, each reflecting a different failure of Essence— some turning inward, others outward. These Dimmed do not gather, align, or act with shared purpose. They exist in parallel, often interfering with one another, their presence compounding the instability of the realm rather than organizing it.

Dhuma exists in a state of controlled darkness. Light does not rise or set, but shifts in intensity through natural cycles governed by the Lantern of Dhuma, maintaining emotional and environmental balance.
A shadowed realm of rolling fields, dark waters, basin lowlands, and elevated stone architecture. The land moves between open terrain and dense shadow regions, shaped by stillness, depth, and quiet continuity.
Rivers, darkwater channels, and basin systems flow throughout Dhuma, reflecting the dim light of the Lantern. These waters are calm, slow-moving, and deeply tied to the balance of the realm.

Dhuma contains two Gateways: Duskgate, positioned along the lower reaches near the Sable Road, and Noctis Gate, concealed within the hills near the Nocturne Palace. Both are guarded and connected to the inter-realm network.
Dhuma’s flora includes silver moss cultivated within the Gloamfields for medicinal use, along with native growth such as Bints, Nyrelis, Rava root crops, Kimin fruiting vines, and Aum species including Avell Aum and Vruska Aum adapted to low-light conditions.
Dhuma’s fauna include Mosslings, Draken, Murk owls, Basin eels, Darkwater fish, and Gloam moths. These creatures are adapted to low-light environments and form a balanced ecosystem within the realm’s shadowed terrain.
Dhuma also produces Dimmed—imbalanced beings formed through collapse of Essence rather than natural evolution. Known manifestations include Umbravores, which feed on Essence and shadow, and Everglooms, which destabilize the mind through despair and perception. These entities do not function as a unified species or faction and exist outside the natural balance of the realm.
Dhuma values emotional balance and restraint. Stillness is respected, and excess expression is subdued to prevent instability, as emotional imbalance can contribute to Dimming within the realm’s naturally responsive environment.
The Ember Guard maintains order within Dhuma, operating across the realm with Gaushan assigned by function to monitor stability, manage gate access, and respond to signs of Dimming.
The Lantern, symbol of balance, quiet power, and the enduring light within darkness.
RAYA
Raya rules Dhuma with composure sharpened by endurance. Nothing in the realm is extravagant, and neither is she. Beneath her rule, Dhuma remains disciplined, watchful, and steady, shaped by a strength that has learned how to survive darkness without yielding to it.

UMBRAVORE
Umbravores are Dimmed demons of Dhuma, formed when imbalance consumes both form and presence. Their bodies remain humanoid, but hollowed—stretched thin as if something within them has already been taken.
They feed on Essence and shadow, weakening the presence of those around them as darkness deepens and space itself begins to feel unstable.

EVERGLOOM
Everglooms are Dimmed demons of Dhuma formed through internal collapse. Their presence does not overwhelm the body first, but the mind—pressing inward until perception, certainty, and self begin to fracture.
They isolate their targets through quiet intrusion, turning thought against itself until the world feels distant, empty, and no longer reliable.
